Staff Failed To Use Sterile Alcohol

Staff failed to use sterile alcohol even though a Lompoc hospital policy required sterile alcohol for cleaning areas in the hospital pharmacy. Staff inappropriately used non-sterile alcohol and non-sterile water to clean the pharmacy area where IV medications are mixed. Dangerous Pathogens In Pharmacy

Dangerous pathogens in pharmacy were discovered by Lompoc hospital staff on June 28 and December 21, 2016. The airborne pathogens were found in the work area where intravenous (IV) medications are mixed.
