LVMC Rated In Lowest 8% of Hospitals Nationwide
Perhaps new members of the Board of Directors will require LVMC’s COO to provide a full, written explanation. Why did the CMS Lompoc hospital rating of 2 Stars drop to 1 Star? The past Board defended previous below average CMS ratings. Here’s hoping the new Board members will require improvement in management’s performance for CMS. The LVMC COO has demonstrated a failure to improve or maintain the previous below average CMS 2 Star rating. The downward trend has landed at the bottom of the barrel.
In November 2018, Lompoc citizens voted for improvement of the hospital’s performance by electing new Board members. If hospital management personnel changes are deemed necessary, the new Board members have the legal authority to replace administrators or supervisors to improve quality of care. There are compelling reasons to make improvements in the operation of the hospital. Among various reasons, according to the Johns Hopkins Armstrong Institute for Patient Safety and Quality, low rated hospitals produce higher mortality rates.
